Logic Research Selects Rim Semiconductor for Multi-Year Supply Agreement

Companies Anticipate Customer Win in Asia for Rim Semis Cupria Broadband Technology to Result in Multi-Million Dollar Sales Volume

Jan 24, 2007

Rim Semiconductor Company (OTCBB: RSMI), an innovator in video-over-copper technology, and Logic Research Co., Ltd. a supplier of DSL equipment solutions, jointly announced Rim Semis Cupria family of semiconductors will power new transport equipment from Logic Research to support advanced video, data and voice applications. The two-year contract will introduce Rim Semiconductors technology in Asian markets and establish it as the new standard for Logic Researchs next generation digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAM) and customer premises equipment (CPE).

Logic Research sells to telecommunications and video security markets. Logic Research selected Rim Semiconductors technology for the superior data rate and reach for video applications. CupriaTM will be used in Logic Researchs new DSL network and remote equipment product lines.

By incorporating Rim Semiconductors Cupria chip solution, our new products will have a significant performance advantage versus our competitors in the Asian markets, says Koji Suga, Vice President of Logic Research. Rim Semiconductor has designed and developed a better performing solution than other chips currently on the market and we can better meet the performance requirements of our customers.

The Asian markets are leading in broadband and high performance video implementation. Our technology opens up tremendous opportunities for market differentiation for equipment suppliers, adds Brad Ketch, CEO of Rim Semiconductor Company. We are pleased Logic Research will be the first company to bring Cupria to the Asian marketplace. Their new line of Cupria-based products continues to validate our vision for better quality of service in video-over-copper technology in markets around the world.

The Cupria family of copper transport processors is based on Rim Semiconductors innovative new Internet Protocol Subscriber Line (IPSL) technology. Cupria delivers significantly more bandwidth over longer distances, increasing the total available market for triple play services while lowering network costs. The IP-based technology offers a better end-user experience than other video-over-copper technologies to deliver superior image quality. Cupria is currently in development and both companies will be performing testing later this year. Logic Research plans to ship its new Cupria-based product line next year. Based on Logic Researchs growth estimates, Rim Semi and Logic believe the contract could result in multi millions of dollars in sales of Rim Semis Cupria family of semiconductors.
